More than a one C afterCaptain Robert Falcon Scott ’s ill - fated Antarctic excursion , the photographic notebook of George Murray Levick – a surgeon , animal scientist , and lensman on that voyage – has been discovered at Scott ’s final expedition stem at Cape Evans , on Antarctica ’s Ross Island .
“ It ’s an exciting find , ” said Nigel Watson , executive director of New Zealand ’s Antarctic Heritage Trust , in a financial statement . “ The notebook computer is a missing part of the official junket record . After spending seven year conserving Scott ’s last expedition building and collecting , we are delighted to still be finding new artifacts . ”
Late last year , theAntarctic Heritage Trust announce the recovery of 22 never - before - seen cellulose nitrate negativesfrom Scott ’s hut at Cape Evans .
