The Game of Thrones TV series has been a remarkably close adaptation of George R.R. Martin ’s fantasy serial so far , but that will change when time of year 5 debut on April 12th . But not every alteration from the books is a tough thing ! Here are five plot line from the novel we wo n’t omit at all .

1 ) “ Faegon ”

2 ) Greyjoy Family Matters

Supposedly the Greyjoy plot line is scatty in time of year five ; I suppose it could show up in time of year six , but if the show sticks to its ego - impose seven season point of accumulation it seems unlikely it would neutralise clock time on Pyke political sympathies . Frankly , if a Corvus corax would arrive somewhere with a note read “ Pyke has a new Billie Jean Moffitt King , who ’s like Balon but even worse ” that would more than suffice .
3 ) The Bachelor , Quentyn Martell
In A Dance with Dragons , Prince Doran Martell of Dorne reveals he had plan to marry his girl Arianne to Viserys Targaryen in hope that he would reconquer Westeros . Viserys spoiled that architectural plan back in time of year one by being a complete jackass , but Doran ’s back - up plan is to marry his dull son Quentyn to Daenerys with hopefully the same results . I ’m not calling the character “ dull ” to be funny ; the book lead out of its way to depict Quentyn as unvarnished in every way , and boy , does it give no grounds to the reverse . And yet so much of A terpsichore with Dragons involves Quentyn ’s journey to Meereen to meet with Dany , his all lackluster wooing of her , and then him sticking around for no seeming reason even after she says no .
And he sticks around a long time , accomplishing nothing , and being of interestingness to no one ( particularly Dany ) . Frankly , the only interesting affair Quentyn does is get burn by Drogon at the ending of the record , but he does n’t even have the decency to break down . I ca n’t even envisage what future development could occur that would somehow make this storyarc count — it seems unbelievably unlikely that Dorne will declare state of war against Daenerys just because Doran ’s dumb kid got in the manner of a dragon — and thus we ’re very glad of all the Martells join the show in season five , Quentyn does not come along to be among them .
4 ) Tyrion ’s manner of walking of Shame
After Tyrion down his dad and flee King ’s Landing in the books , he has nowhere to go . Eventually he end up at Illyrio Mopatis ’ place , who sends him to Meereen along with Faegon to meet with Daenerys . But it seems out of the question that the awful Victarion will fare any easily in wooing Dany than Quentyn Martell did , and he ’ll more than probably cope with the same fate as well , which is possibly why the show does n’t seem to have regorge his character either . Surely there ’s a more effective way to get a dragon horn in Daenerys ’ hands besides spending all that time with an awful persona whose destiny is almost certainly already seal .
