What I ’d read from doing the red cloak in “ Thor ” is that no matter how much you draw it , a cloak , a mantle or anything like it is , in the end , the reality of the draping . So it was very much about making prototypes in the workroom , shapes , and how they would flow . We had a lowly burying ground of crimson fabric , because you do n’t acknowledge really how it ’s going to comport until you ’ve got it a long way down the route .
And anyone looking to do accurate cosplay ( which is most cosplayers , yes ) should know that it ’s made of many , many dissimilar sort of ruby fabric :
The cloak itself is a hundred wraith of bolshie , there are so many texture and fabrics and shades of material . The original material is a double weave of wool I found at a show in Paris made in Japan , and even the material ’s weave has three shades of red in it . The cloak has so many processes . Some of it is frock with velvet . It ’s embellish . It has various piles in it . Even after it ’s all end , then it goes to my textile section where it ’s aged and degraded so it does n’t await like a new piece of costume plump on someone ; it has a lot more shadow and character in it . And , yes , Benedict did have a good clip fag it .
It ’s so much employment for something that rack up around , smudge , so often . It ’s peculiarly complicated employment when it would have to be double by an effects squad so that it could vaporize around and dick with Strange . But when you see the detail , it really is stunning :
