At Star Wars Celebration this year , IDW announced Star Wars Adventures , a new all - age take on the galaxy far , far off , distinguishable from Marvel ’s Star Wars comical book offerings . That distinction is continuing with a novel , stylized take on The Force Awakens , and we ’ve got a unexampled look inside .
Marvel already released its own adaptation of the movie last year but like Adventures , this new graphic novel — written by Alessandro Ferrari and with nontextual matter from Simone Buonfantino , Ken Shu , Roberto Santillo , Marco Ghiglione , and Stefano Attardi — is aimed at young Star Wars buff , produce it a bit more of an approachable read , even if it ’s an version of the same source material .
One agency it does resist out compare to Marvel ’s adaptation : it has a much loose , cartoonier art style , which pee The Force Awakens palpate like a Saturday morning cartoon rather than a blockbuster picture — which I suddenly would like to see really befall . Check out the opening Thomas Nelson Page of the fresh version below , making their debut here on io9 .

IDW ’s Force Awakens adjustment is on ledge August 29 .
