No face this week , and no scene set in the office ( which means no Malory , alas ) . We open with Lana , AJ , and Archer prepping to fly to the West Coast ( Archer tossing no fewer than six metal flasks out of his pouch at the airport X - ray machine ) , and Lana sternly remind Archer that he ’s stringently her baby daddy . Not her boyfriend , nor next hubby , and “ Nobody ’s guessing who ’s coming to dinner ! ” Archer ’s response : “ Totally clear … -ly annoying . ” When the flight attendant tell him they do n’t have twirler ( for cocktail , duh ) , he differentiate her to “ rinse out a little trash can . ” It ’s going to be a long journeying .
SIDE NOTE : As someone who live in San Francisco this bugged the shit out of me , but TV shows and movies do this all the time . When you bring at SFO and then move to the East Bay , THE GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE IS NOT take , unless you ’re taking some unbalanced route that ’s gon na add hr to the slip , which , conceive these two have an infant in towage , seems very unlikely . It ’s the Bay Bridge , people . Bay Bridge . /rant over
Lana ’s parents , she inform Archer , are academics ; her female parent ’s a UC Berkeley professor , and her papa is a microbiologist working on a top - secret fossil fuel project . Oh , and her parents have no idea she ’s a undercover agent … they still think their girl is work on her Ph.D. in environmental science . ( It goes without saying they do n’t know Archer is a spy , either , leading to an inevitable moment in which a put - on - the - spot Archer reveals his study are sharpen on “ medieval Slavic history , ” a subject he intelligibly knows zero about . ) Lana also informs Archer he ’s conform to her family line before , but he does n’t commend … cut to flashback , Lana with awesome Afro hairdo , Archer run off and swan diving event into the dinner table while yelling “ If it ’s gon na be that kind of company , etcetera , etcetera , mashed Solanum tuberosum ! ” Upon reaching , Papa Kane greets him in David ’s velvet note : “ We ’ve got the mashed potato juuuuust the way you like ’em . ”
Meanwhile , back in New York , the rest of the gang ( plusKrieger ’s Virtual Girlfriend ! ) are set in their bowling shirts for League Night , but the van ’s broken down in an unsavory neighborhood . This section , which mostly exists to provide overlapping dialogue and action at law ( or lack therof ) to break up the master secret plan , yield trivial in the way of fib advancement , but it cue us that a ) Pam like to hang out at striptease clubs and b ) Pam used to be in a fight club .
Back in Berkeley , things become screamingly tense when Archer realizes the Kanes opt dipping into their spicy bathtub completely naked . They recount Archer they have something to ask him … which he render as an invitation to a three - direction … which of track dismay them . And him , once he pull in how wrong he was . AWKWARD .
Though Lana ’s dad openly assert that Archer is “ an assbucket ” ( not for the last time this sequence ) , he ’s uncoerced to accept assist when it ’s discovered that his depository library , with all his potentially lucrative research on fossil fuel , has been pillage and burgled . It was to tempt him to the Kane fellowship reunification BBQ ( Archer ’s response : “ Are they a brisket crowd , or a pulled pork crowd ? ” ) , which Lana expressly forbid them from doing . But she begrudgingly match , finally admitting that yes , Archer is … sept . Can this relationship be saved ? And , while these character - building episodes of late are amusing , will Archer get back to its spycraft roots next week ? Time will state .
