Space epos almost always play tight and loose with science , treat the police of physics like suggestion . But some movies dismember Newton and Einstein with style more gusto than others . Here ’s our report card add-in for bad science in 18 moving picture .

To some extent , it ’s perceivable that space adventure play fast and wanton with physic . After all , who wants to keep an eye on Han Solo pass years on the journey to Alderaan , only to find that the satellite has twice Earth gravity and he can scarcely digest up , much less groovy ?
The category of mistakes in our report card should be middling self - explanatory , but just in case , I ’ll expand on them a fiddling bit :
There ’s no sound in space
Not all planets have Earth gravity
satellite should have diverse climates , rather of one unified climate across a “ desert planet ” or “ forest planet . ”
It should n’t be too easy to communicate with alien creatures , without some sort of high - engineering “ translator ” explanation .
And it decidedly should n’t be too leisurely for humanity to hybridise with aliens .
Humans exposed to vacuum without a spacesuit should n’t break loose or shatter . And a “ hull breach ” where the ship ’s bunch is exposed to vacuum should kill everyone instantly .
You ca n’t have flaming in space , unless there ’s O leak out somehow .
Asteroids or other objects should n’t be able to float close together without fall into each other ’s graveness
People should n’t be able-bodied to dodge optical maser and other fastness - of - light weapons
And there ’s no ground why someone would move in slow - apparent movement in zero gravity .
immobile - than - Christ Within travel is plausibly not ever going to be possible .
