One of the just surprises to come out of this new geological era of “ All Trek , All the Time ” has been Short Treks , the anthology series that gives us bite - sized , wide-ranging bit of storytellingfrom across the Star Trek macrocosm . At Comic - Con , we got to see what to have a bun in the oven from a very vivify 2nd batch of adventures for the series .
There will be six new Short Treks , each telling a smaller story within the bigger Trek world , at least one of which will feature Tribbles , the most lovely threat Starfleet has ever faced . Another will boast Spock and Discovery ’s turn One stuck in an lift , while yet another will act as a form of puzzler for the upcomingStar Trek : Picard , offer a common sense of the submarine sandwich ’s history leading from Nemesis to the new serial publication , fifteen year after his latest canon show .
Two of the short pants will be animise , and three will feature the Discovery - era Enterprise bunch , and then there ’s the Picard short polish up out the crew .
In the laggard shown at the Comic - Con Star Trek jury , we get glimpses of a lot of these short , with humourous Benjamin Spock and Number One interludes , Captain Pike patently in prison , and H Jon Benjamin play a hysterical , tribble - study scientist . We also got name for the new short : “ Ask Not , ” “ Children of Mars , ” “ The Girl Who Made the whizz , ” The Trouble With Edward , ” “ Ephaim And Dot , ” and “ Q&A. ”

Ethan Peck , Anson Mount , and Rebecca Romijn will all bereprising their Trek rolesin the upcoming series of short , with Michael Giacchino , composer for JJ Abrams ’ first two Star Trek movies , directing one of the shorts . And H Jon Benjamin , of Archer and Bob ’s Burgers , will be in the Tribbles episode .
The young time of year of Star Trek : Short Treks will start sometime soon on CBS All Access .
