X , the social media platform formerly known as Twitter , has been suffering from outages all twenty-four hours Monday . And owner Elon Musk has finally said what ’s behind it . Well , what he thinks is behind it . The billionaire oligarch says X is being reach with a “ major cyberattack , ” though he did n’t present any evidence to back up his title .
“ There was ( still is ) a monolithic cyberattack against X , ” Musk tweetedMonday good afternoon . “ We get attacked every day , but this was done with a circumstances of resources . Either a large , coordinated chemical group and/or a body politic is involve . Tracing … ”
Musk appears to just be hypothesise about the suit of the outages , given how he leaves everything so open - over . And it ’s important to remember that Musk has a prospicient chronicle of just lying about various topics . X has experience several comparatively small outages since Musk buy the web site in October 2022 , but Monday ’s ongoing outage is a bad one . Strangely , there does appear to be important regional divergence in who can get on X. One Gizmodo author working in Southern California was having intermittent outage Monday but was able to get at the site as of this writing . Other Gizmodo employee in New York and South Carolina , however , were not capable to get to the platform .
