A few calendar week ago Lego officially discover that the next fan - designed Cuusoo gear up to go into production would beBrent Waller ’s incredibly - detailed Ghostbusters place . And while the brickmasters at Lego made a few pinch toWaller ’s design , the results are still unquestionably worth adding to any Lego collection .
During our abbreviated hands - on with the new set , it appears that this time around Lego has prioritized the aesthetics of Ecto-1 over functionality . There did n’t appear to be an easy to way to put the minifigs inside the vehicle , short of removing the entire cap which would have been unmanageable due to attached cables and other detailing . It trammel playability , but Ecto-1 looks like it just rolled flat out of the movie , so it ’s hard to plain .
Update : It looks like the ceiling is actually only held in place by four studs in the corners , making it promiscuous to polish off to insert the figures and check over out the details inside . So it ’s win - winnings here .
The minifigs themselves are also just as wonderful . If you had interest you ’d have to waitress for a Groundhog Day - themed Lego localise to get a tiny Bill Murray to bear around with you , you could pass off a suspiration of relief . The four master characters — Peter , Winston , Egon , and Ray — are all included . And each come with tiny proton packs , walkie talkies , ghost ambuscade , and befittingly terrorise spirit on their faces . get this quaternity of minifigs alone is worth the price of the full set .
It ’s admittedly a little disappointing that the Ghostbusters ’ firehouse - turned - central office is n’t let in as part of the set . A lilliputian version of William Atherton ’s Walter Peck role would have made a great plus to any minifig collecting . And we ’d be doing everyone a disservice if we did n’t enquire Lego to mayhap slash a Slimer figure in there too before the solidification is officially available this June for $ 50 .
