On a track from her new album,Ariana Grandeappears to apologize to exPete Davidsonfor not being completely overMac Millerthroughout their relationship.
The pop star, 25, has dropped herhighly anticipated fifth record,Thank U, Next, and on one of the songs she appeared to address how her lingering feelings for Miller, whodied of an accidental drug overdoselast September, affected her relationship with theSaturday Night Livestar, before theycalled off their engagementlast October.
In “Ghostin,” Grande talks about how she’s struggling to get over another man, who’s no longer “here.”
“Though I wish he were here instead / Don’t want that living in your head,” Grande sings in the song, adding, “I know it breaks your heart when I cry again ‘Stead of ghostin’ him.”
However, Grande goes on to tell her lover, “we’ll get through this, we’ll get past this / I’m a girl with a whole lot of baggage / But I love you, we’ll get past this.”

Adding fuel to the fire, in response to a fan who asked what the song was about, Grande wrote, “Feeling badly for the person you’re withbc you love somebody else. Feeling badly bc he can tell he can’t compare…and how i should be ghosting him.”
The song, named after a term for suddenly abandoning someone without an explanation, comes after the singer wrote a note to Davidson in the scrapbook from her iconic “Thank U, Next” music video. Above a photo of the pair, which featured his face drawn over with a purple marker, Grande wrote “sry I dipped.”
Several of Grande’s fans also picked up on a few musical clues that also seemed to imply the song was about the singer’s lingering feelings for Miller.
Many social media users pointed out that “Ghostin” used asimilar instrumentalto one from Miller’s “2009,” while others highlighted the lyrical similarities between Grande’s song and “Cinderella,” a track from Miller that Grande previously confirmed waswritten about her.
Grande has sharednumerous heartfelt tributesto Miller since his death last year — including oneposted just a week after her split from Davidson, and another last month, on whatwould have been Miller’s 27th birthday.
Last December, Grande also revealed that she’dcovered upone of thenine tattoosshe got with Davidson during theirwhirlwind romancewith a sweet tribute to the late rapper.
In abehind-the-scenes videofrom her hit music video “Thank U, Next,” Grande called attention to her new “Myron” tattoo — named afterMiller’s dog— which was situated in the same spot as an inking she’d previously gotten in honor of Davidson’s father, whodied during the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacksin New York City.

In addition to the new album, Grande alsodropped the music videofor her new song “Break Up with Your Girlfriend, I’m Bored,” starringRiverdale’s Charles Melton, on Friday.
Grande went on to thank her supporters in an emotional tweet, which she said came later than she originally anticipated.
