Oprah Winfreybrought the color purple to the red carpet Sunday night.

The media mogul, 69, attended the Academy Museum Gala at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles on Sunday in a a custom, long-sleeve Dolce & Gabbana gown entirely embroidered in sequins. She teamed the look matching Tyler Ellis.

The former talk show host also piled on the bling with a ring fromEffy Jewelryand a pair of statement, shoulder-grazing earrings fromHamilton Jewelers. She even matched her glam to her gown with purple eyeshadow and a plum lip.

“It’s a purple kind of night. Off to the@academymuseumgala with my@thecolorpurplefamily 💜,” Winfrey wrote in her caption as she posed for an Instagram snap in front of a cream sofa. The star also reposted a red carpet photo with actressDanielle Brooks.

Meanwhile, Winfrey’s fun outing comes after she discussed the importance of diverse books at the 74th National Book Awards Ceremony & Benefit Dinner in November.

The star went on to speak about theimpact ofThe Color Purpleand theupcoming movie musicalbased on Alice Walker’s 1982 novel, starringHalle Bailey,Taraji P. HensonandJon Batiste.

Describing in her speech how the novel, which won the 1983 National Book Award for Fiction, has been adapted throughout the years, Winfrey said, “That is the power of a story well told,” she said. “Thank you Alice Walker.”

Alice Walker became the first Black woman to win the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction forThe Color Purplein 1983.
