In a newRolling Stonecover story interview, the R&B singer-songwriter opened up about her short-lived fling with the “Way 2 Sexy” rapper in 2009.
“We were really young,” SZA, 33, told the outlet of her time dating Drake, 36. “It wasn’t hot and heavy or anything. It was like youth vibes. It was so childish.”

“So It was actually 2009 lol … in this case a year of poetic rap license mattered lol,“the “Snooze” musician wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “I think he jus innocently rhymed 08 w wait. Anybody who really knows me and was around during this time can confirm … it’s all love all peace.”

SZA continued in a separate post, “I just didn’t want anybody thinking anything underage or creepy was happening. Completely innocent. Lifetimes ago.”
The pair has remained on good terms since their brief romance, with Drake calling her “the chefs kiss” on his Instagram Story after her song “Hit Different” dropped in 2020.
Last month, SZA and Drake teamed up for their first-ever collaboration"Slime You Out"from his upcoming albumFor All the Dogs. The song debuted at No. 1 on theBillboardHot 100 — marking her second track to ever top the chart following “Kill Bill” earlier this year.

Elsewhere in her new interview withRolling Stone, SZA spoke about how her approach to love has changed after spending time in relationships — including a five-year engagement to an unnamed ex-boyfriend.
“I feel like I have more to offer than the way I look and my energy, but it’s like, I’m human, that s— is all-encompassing,” she told the outlet.
“I want to stunt like me when I meet the person I envision me being with. I envision them falling in love with me the way I am,” continued SZA. “But I guess it’s like I have to release that idea. Maybe it’s because I don’t know if I’ll like the way I am later?”
